Vegan SocietyThere is a particular pleasure in a soap that actually smells of what it claims to smell of. Soap Daze's Lemon and Lime Soap on a Rope uses real citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel oil and citrus aurantifolia (lime) oil — not fragrance — so the scent is sharp, clean, and genuinely revitalising first thing in the morning.
The base is built on sodium cocoate, sodium olivate, and sodium shea butterate: coconut, olive, and shea butter oils processed through saponification. That combination is what gives the bar its characteristic creamy lather and its hardness — this is not a soap that dissolves in a puddle after three uses. Each bar weighs a minimum of 185g and measures approximately 9 x 5 x 4.4cm, with a cotton rope for hanging in the shower.
If you have oily skin, lemon and lime oils are astringents, which may help to deeply cleanse pores and address bacteria. The naturally occurring glycerine — a by-product of the soap-making process — stays in the bar rather than being extracted, as it is in commercial soap production, which is part of why the lather feels the way it does.
